Dane was formed in 1968 by George Hall and John Hannam, specialising in the design, fabrication and installation of both aluminium glazing systems and mild steel staircases and balustrading. Aluminium glazing systems only started to become commercially available in the U.K. during the nineteen sixties, making Dane one of the first fabrication businesses of our type in the country. The development of these systems has evolved very substantially over the past fifty years to meet the demands of modern architecture and building standards, Dane have proactively embraced this evolutionary process, growing our business capacity and knowledge base to successfully deliver numerous prestigious high value projects.
From humble beginnings, Dane have developed into one of the foremost Facade contractors in the U.K. The business successfully passed to the second generation in the mid nineteen nineties and now has current annual turnover of circa £30m derived from contract values ranging between £2m to £12m.
In March 2019, 100% of the company's share capital was transferred by the Hall family to an Employee Ownership Trust. EOT's were established in the Finance Act 2014 to provide the employees of a business with a greater stakeholding in it's well-being and future prosperity. The rationale behind this decision was to recognise the loyalty and commitment that Dane employees have shown over many years, coupled with a strong belief that this model of ownership provides the right basis for long term stability and success of the business.
