Dane cyclists raised £3,000 for charity by completing a 3 day cycle ride from Annan on the West coast of Scotland back to Dane headquarters in Newcastle Upon Tyne, a total of 206 miles. The charity benefiting from the fundraising is ADHD Foundation.
This is the words of Mark Patterson who organised and completed the event -
"15 eager Dane cyclists set off from Annan Scotland to ride 78 miles to Innerleithen, the eagerness soon evaporated when we stepped outside to storm Ellen battering the west coast of Scotland and it rained all 78 miles to Innerleithen but not once did it break our spirit and determination and we all landed at the Traquair Arms Hotel for a good earned pint, hot shower and a lovely evening meal.
The next morning we’d cycle from Innerleithen to Alnwick, another 78 miles. The weather was much kinder to us and we added another cyclist to the group, Gerry Rafferty our Schuco sales rep, he also kindly asked us if we’d like to stop at his house for cake and coffee as it was on route and we happily accepted, after the first hard day of cycling, this was one of the hardest days rides we’ve encountered and when we eventually reached the Alnwick Lodge, a quirky little place to say the least, we were spent. I’d like to take this moment to apologies to the group who had to walk through three fields and were nearly trampled to death off cows just to reach the hotel.
The last day was 50 miles back to Dane and the first 5 miles down the A1 where pretty scary, but we survived and we all got back in one piece."
